FAQ
1. What makes your surf coaching in Tamraght different from a surf school?
Unlike typical surf schools, my approach is personalized and technical.
You get one-on-one attention, theory breakdown and clear progress tracking — not just “wave pushing.”
As your Surf Coach Bassi in Tamraght, I focus on improving your technique, timing, and confidence so you actually understand the ocean and surf with intention while having your best time in the water.
2. Who is Coach Bassi?
I’m Mohamed Bassi.
I grew up in the area of Tamraght, always loved to spend time in the ocean and started surfing and bodyboarding for fun as a kid.
Over the years I gathered lot’s of experience, started freediving, worked as a life-guard and got my ISA-certification.
My passion lies in the ocean and connecting people to nature and surfing. I am always happy to help and have endless patience to help you learn surfing from the beginning, get rid of bad patterns or work on more progressed turns. I’ve helped surfers from all over the world build confidence and surf with flow on Morocco’s never ending waves — from Panorama Beach to Devil’s Rock and Desert Point.
I’d love to show you the beautiful coast and help you on your very own surf-journey 🙂
3. Who is your surf coaching for?
My sessions are designed for beginners to intermediate surfers, solo-travelers, couples, small groups and families who want to improve technique, ocean awareness, and consistency far from fast tourism or big groups.
Whether it’s your first pop-up or you’re working on your refining turns — I help you move forward step by step.
4. Do you coach kids or families?
Yes, of course!
I offer family-friendly surf lessons in Tamraght, adapted for kids aged 7 and up.
Safety and fun are always the priority, parents can either join or watch comfortably from the beach.

4. How does a typical session with Coach Bassi look like?
Either I’ll pick you up in the Tamraght, Taghazout, or Agadir area, or we’ll meet directly at the chosen surf spot for the day.
We start by checking the conditions and talking about your goal for your session, followed by a warm-up together on the beach and some theory that helps you progress faster and stay safe in the lineup.
Once we’re in the water, I’ll guide you to read the ocean, find the right position, spot good waves, and understand how to catch and ride them. You’ll get real‑time feedback in the water — focused on progress, but always with plenty of fun.
A session usually takes 2h – 2:30min.
After surfing, we’ll check in again: answer any open questions, review what worked, and set goals for your next surf.
If you’re joining again the next day, we’ll continue exactly where we left off — motivated, confident, and ready for more waves.
Multi-session packs are available for those staying longer in Tamraght — ideal for real, consistent progress, as we can catch up daily where we stopped the day before.

Absolutely! Tamraght is one of Morocco’s safest and most beginner-friendly surf destinations.
The whole area offer several mellow beach breaks perfect for learning and progressing without needing to be scared of sharp reefs or heavy waves. The beaches have sandy bottoms, consistent waves and plenty of space.
Depending on the conditions I always choose the safest spot for your level and explain local currents and conditions before we paddle out.
6. Do I need my own surfboard or wetsuit?
No, not at all – all surf-equipment is included in the price!
If you already have your surfboard, great — we’ll use it to get up your wave-count and you’ll get feedback specific for how you can improve more on your own board.

13. What should I bring to a session?
All you need to bring is a smile, and your beach essentials.
I’ll take car of all the surf equipment we need for your session, wetsuit, a suitable surfboard, leash, fins, and wax if needed.
To keep you comfortable before and after the session, bing:
- swimwear
- towel
- sunscreen (if you have a zinc-stick to stay safe from the strong sun)
- drinking water
- maybe a hat for summertime / a hoodie for wintertime
- & of course feel free to bring your own surf-board or wetsuit if you want to use it
14. What if the conditions aren’t good?
If the conditions at our planned spot aren’t suitable — too big, too small, too crowded, or unsafe — we simply switch to another beach with better waves for your level. Tamraght and the surrounding area offer many options, so there is almost always a good alternative year round.
If surprisingly the ocean is truly not surfable that day, we adjust the plan or reschedule your session. You’ll never be pushed into unsafe or pointless conditions — your progress and comfort matter most.
15. Which websites do you recommend for checking the swell or read about surfing?
Here’s a few of my favourite ones:
- World Surf League
- Surfline – good for understanding swell direction and period
- Surf Forecast Tamraght – forecast for swell, period, direction and a spot description
- Windguru – detailed wind and swell data
- Windy – great visual maps for wind and swell movement
I’m always happy to explain how to read a forecast and what matters most for your level — swell size, period, wind direction, and tide.
But don’t worry too much: I check the conditions every day and choose the best spot for you.
16. Can you help me find good yoga or fitness training?
Definitely!
Tamraght is known for its surf and yoga lifestyle. I can recommend local yoga instructors or fitness sessions to complement your surf progression and holiday stay.
Perfect for balance, recovery, and focus.
